razil is the 5th largest country in the world. I won't beat around the bush, the trip from the US to Brazil tends to be...far.

Flights
A reminder that starting January 10th 2024 Americans will need tourist visas to enter the country. You can submit your online application on the website https://brazil.vfsevisa.com
Your final destination is Aeroporto do Galeão (GIG). If you're on the west coast, you'll need to make a connection in the east coast, typically Houston, Atlanta or Miami.
There are cheaper flights available through Panama City. The planes are less nice than if you go through the US (basically there's no little TV on economy), but it's not bad.
If you're on the east coast, you're in luck. New York has an 11 hour direct flight to Brazil.
Getting to Búzios from the Airport
Búzios is an extremely popular tourist destination, so there's many options to get to and from the airport. Búzios is around a 3 hour car ride from Galeão airport.
Our two recommendations are either a private shuttle service (for 15 people, it's about 300 dollars total one way, so 20 dollars per person) or taking an uber, which is typically around 80-100 dollars total one way.
Should you want to, our wedding planner will recommend a specific shuttle service closer to the wedding.
It will be equally easy to come back to the airport. You can hire the same service to go back, or uber.
Stay tuned, we'll get in touch with y'all once we have specific details!
Getting around in Búzios
Ubers are very popular in Rio and that's what I would recommend for transportation, wherever you go. Driving in Rio is very aggressive and the roads infrastructure is not awesome, so I would not recommend renting cars to drive to Búzios.
